There are many alternatives when it comes to choosing an application to compose and record music, but few free alternatives offers as many options as DarkWave Studio. It is a modular production environment that, as well as having its own virtual instruments, offers compatibility with VSTs and includes an 8 track recorder.

   The program is compatible with ASIO and MME sound cards, as well as allow to control any active virtual device by means of a MIDI controller. It offers a modular system, that will allow us to send the signals between the devices as we choose, in comparison with other applications that are used to audio editing.

   Among the virtual instruments that it includes we will find ES DGenR8 (drum beat synthesizer that recreates the mythical Roland TR-909 sound), ES BassHead (analog synthesizer that is similar to the TB-303), ES Stomp (synthesize tecno drum) and ES SpatialVerb (reverb processor).
